Indonesia is to place further orders for Polish military
equipment, including Skytruck planes, helicopters produced by WSK
PZL Swidnik and long-distance radar manufactured at the Radwar
plant and at the Industrial Telecommunication Institute. The
extension of the Indonesian army's order was discussed this week by
the Defence Ministers of both countries. "Indonesia will buy
another 11 Skytruck transport planes from Poland," announced
Suprihadi, the Marshall of the Indonesian Air Force. The value of
the contract is estimated at more than $60m. The Asian partner is
also considering the purchase of long-distance radar for
anti-aircraft batteries, a deal which could be worth another $60m.
Both contracts are to be financed from a $75m export credit granted
to Indonesia and guaranteed by the Polish state. Indonesia is also
interested in acquiring Polish military technology.
